Federal Reserve Governors warned that AI could cause job displacement before job creation, potentially leading to hardship.
What people are actually saying
AI took my job. Yesterday I was part of the 40% laid off at Block. This is Day 0. 🧵
I’m not worried about AI taking my job, but I am viewing this as a “don’t f*ck around” time. There’s a lot to learn and it can be intimidating at times, but my goal is to be as proactive as I can be with having AI make me more efficient and sharing my learnings with my org.
The "AI took my job" propaganda is being pushed so hard because they need you to expect to be laid off and accept the "advances in AI automation" explanation, but it's actually that your job was outsourced to India and it would be dangerous for us all to suddenly notice that.
AI took my job. Yesterday I was part of the 40% laid off at Block. This is Day 1
I see a lot of “AI took my job” posts in my timeline today. I’m really sorry that you got laid off. It sucks, but AI did not take your job. The leadership of your company made a decision to lay people off. AI is just a tool. This decision was made by your execs.
@Gabe__MD I've had patients jokingly ask if I was worried about AI taking my job and I always answer "Not at all". No machine exists or will exist in my life time that can handle the direct clinical care aspect.
Unpopular opinion: AI agents are not replacing human workers, they are creating a new class of micro-task jobs that didn't exist before. We are seeing it live on Loopuman. Workers in Nairobi completing tasks for AI systems in San Francisco, paid in stablecoins instantly. #Gigs ht…
@BankerBeaver @AdvisorJobs Thank you! Ultimately we can only control what we can control but I’m not worried about AI agents taking my entire job in this decade. There will be a longer tail for human advisors than the scaremongers want us to believe.
@KenSchnetz Congrats Ken. I was just laid off and luckily I’m able to retire. I can say that I didn’t relish the idea of having to find another tech leadership job at 61. Ironically, I’ve got a masters degree from 1989 in AI. Took my entire career for it to finally explode.
watched my coworker get laid off last week. his replacement? a junior dev who built an AI tool that does his job in 20 minutes. took him 3 days to build, now he charges 50 bucks a month for it
@BuckSexton I so disagree with your opinion about robotics replacing surgeons, replacing workers and factories replacing teachers what they’re doing as they’re replacing humans and study show that AI is not helping kids learn it’s helping kids cheat
@FirstSquawk "Rich people don't want to pay humans to do human level work. News at 10." I worked in tech for 20+ years, I wrote scripts, batch files and programs that were AI adjacent, and my sole opinion on AI replacing most workers is: No, fuck no, get an axe and a flamethrower…
AI Took His Job An animator told me AI could wipe out most jobs in his field. Three months later he was laid off. Technology is moving fast and standing still isn’t an option. I go deeper into this in my book Capital Offence now available on Audible. https://t.co/XaFSz0ds5n
