What people are actually saying
@rsgalloway SF could easily have 5x more people than it does now; we have the technology to build up. If remote work broke the geographic bottleneck rents wouldn't be rising again in SF! "Crisis" or not, scarce housing is not an ideal situation and we can, and should, fix it.
My experience of reality says that it seems quite obvious that the main way to fix the fertility crisis is to build more housing and fix the housing crisis. Or at least, nothing’s going to work UNTIL you do that.
@HustleBitch_ I'd guess the future is bleak for housing. Young folk are not buying new cars, they can't afford health insurance, rent, and most are not getting married because it's all too expensive. in 2026 try having babies, buying mortgages, insurance, car payments, repairs fu…
@Bohemiangirl @seledka_vodka I pay £600 a month rent for my house through social housing if that’s what he wants to call it and I’ve worked full time since leaving school. It’s the most expensive in my area too. Not everyone can afford to buy houses with their full time wage and …
@ThomasSowell I’m crying too. Rent is expensive, it goes up every year, technically I can’t afford to buy food, can’t pay all my bills, housing takes half my yearly salary, while my neighbors live off imagined disability, and don’t stress over rent nor have to go to work.
Let me explain something. I live in social housing because private rent is too expensive for my family to afford. We are the only household on the road that have ever worked, and we know this from neighbour anecdotes and from resident records when someone I knew worked for the HA
@ethanflynncpa @EWErickson Passing the ROAD act, making it virtually impossible to build purpose-built SF housing, to prevent a once in a lifetime pandemic panic policy response by the US Federal Reserve is the right way to fix the affordability crisis in housing? More supply=low…
@Cocktological i advocate for my own benefit. i can afford it but it stinks that rent is by far my main expense yet leaves us cramped due to the lack of choices. DC has built more in the past decade and rent growth has been muted, but housing is still too restrictive & expens…
@recouso Housing is too expensive and salaries are low and heavily taxed. Young people cannot afford to rent a flat, no wonder they don't have ambition...
You know how easy it is to fix the housing crisis? Build more + Zoning reform. It is 100% artificial. Not rent control, not “it’s inevitable,” it’s just an artificial inventory shortage designed to make existing homeowners richer.
@GarySchlager @reviewjournal You are the one that does not understand. They are trying to push the narrative "housing is too expensive" but instead of exploring how people could afford their needs, they insinuate that socialist style rent control is needed.
@elonmusk Life is way too expensive, can’t afford a house to provide a good life to our family , we the hard workers get punish with paying bills , rent , groceries , car payments , damn insurances , while the poor have like 5 babies , free insurance free housing , free groserías…
@RightPulseNewss No I don’t. The government made life too expensive for many people to afford rent or home ownership. The government should fix the cost of housing before terrorizing innocent citizens just trying to keep a roof over their head. Everybody deserves respect even the…
🚨 Labor hypocrisy alert: In opposition, they demanded waiving states’ historic public housing debts to build more homes. Now in govt, they rebuff ACT’s $81M waiver—despite 3,100+ on waitlists & skyrocketing rents. Safe in power, promises forgotten? Fix the crisis! #AusPol
